This documentation assumes that you understand basics of NDS® and Novell® Licensing Services (NLS).
To review basics of NDS, see Directory Services .
To review concepts about the licensing service and how NLS works, see Concepts: Novell Licensing Services in NLS Administration. Other chapters explain how to install NLS, how to use NetWare® Administrator to manage license units, and how to troubleshoot the licensing service.
NetWare 5.1 uses the Server Connection Licensing (SCL) model to provide features and tools for monitoring and managing licensing on your network. With the reporting tools in NetWare Administrator, you can quickly access information about your NetWare license certificates:
To review how NetWare 5.1 functions in the SCL model, see "How NetWare 5.1 Uses NLS".
For information on licensing a NetWare 5.1 server, see "Installing License Certificates".
