- To log in or to set the password for a user from an UNIX NIS client, set the default domain in the NetWare® server. Use ypset to set the default domain in the NetWare server.
- ypcat groups does not display the member of the group.
After migrating files to NIS domain, NIS server doesn't display the members of the group. When the NIS client runs YPCAT -t group or YPMATCH name_of_group group, the NIS server doesn't display members of the group.
To view the members of the group, migrate the same files again with MAKENIS.NLM or ConsoleOneTM.
- Upon executing makenis in a server with no replica when the Master replica is down, instead of displaying a DS error, a series of messages similar to the following are displayed erroneously:
Nullpointer passed to routine Kmutex
- Do not use makenis to delete users and groups. Use ConsoleOne instead.
- At times, the NIS Master Server might not allow Sun-Intel, Sun-Sparc, Linux, and Linux-Mandrake to become slave Servers.
- Upon rebooting the server after installing NetWare 6 using the Express install, NIS Server might occasionally cause a server abend at times.
- NIS Slave Server might lead to a Server abend after refreshing its maps three to four times from NIS Master.
