10.5 What’s New in ZENworks 7.3 Linux Management with Interim Release 4

The following sections describe the new features and enhancements in Novell ZENworks 7.3 Linux Management with Interim Release 4 (IR4):

10.5.1 Support for New Platforms as Managed Devices

ZENworks 7.3 Linux Management with IR4 lets you manage the following devices:

  • Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 SP3 on 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) architectures

  • RHEL 6 Server on the zSeries (s390x) architecture

For more information, see Section 2.3, Managed Device Requirements.

10.5.2 Controlling a Package Bundle Installation Action That Is Past Due on a Device

You can now allow or prevent the package bundle installation after the scheduled time is passed on the managed device by configuring the ZMD preference allow-pastdue. If the allow-pastdue preference value is set to True, then ZMD detects any past due schedule actions for the device on refresh, and sends a trigger to process the immediate installation of the pending bundles. However, if the allow-pastdue preference value is set to False, then on device refresh, ZMD skips the installation of the assigned bundle for any past due scheduled task.

For more information, see Controlling a Package Bundle Installation Action That Is Past Due on a Device in the Novell ZENworks 7.3 Linux Management Administration Guide.
