Novell Education Declares March "Certification Month"
Celebrates Certification and Continuing Evolution
PROVO, UTAH -- March 1, 1995 -- Novell Education has declared March
1995 as "Certification Month," when Novell will both celebrate
certification in the information technology (IT) industry and begin
announcing a series of evolutions to one of Novell's hallmark certification
programs, the Certified Novell Engineer (CNE), as well as news
surrounding the Certified Novell Administrator (CNA) and Certified Novell
Instructor (CNI).
Together with Novell's certification partners--its CNEs, CNAs, and
CNIs--and key Novell Education service providers and channel partners,
Novell will globally celebrate the success of its certification programs:
passing its 50,000th CNE milestone, cementing CNE as the global
standard in service and support; the growth of the CNA program,
introduced only two years ago, to 40,000-plus CNAs; and the global
nature of Novell Education's certification programs.
Throughout the month, Novell Education will be making
announcements regarding program enhancements and directions
through out the month of March. Key service providers, such as Busch
Creative Services (BCS), Drake Prometric, Sylvan Learning Centers, and
Virtual University Enterprises (VUE), will be involved in various aspects
of Certification Month and its on-going events.
A brief overview of Certification Month events include CeBIT Fair
(March 8-15), Brainshare Salt Lake City (March 20-24), and NetWorld +
Interop (March 27-31).
Celebrating Growth
The 50,000th CNE is from the Netherlands. The 49,998th,
49,999th, 50,0001st, and 50,002nd are all from outside the United States.
And Novell's training infrastructure, which started with 30 sites in the
United States, has spread to more than 1,300 Novell Authorized
Education Centers ( NAECs) throughout the world.
This world penetration of CNEs speaks to the global nature of
Novell certification and points to Novell President and CEO Bob
Frankenberg's vision of global pervasive computing and the surge
toward one billion Novell users by the year 2000. Novell Education's
student throughput for 1994 was greater than half a million. Novell
Education is slated to exceed that half-million mark by another 300,000
more student units this year, bringing student throughput up to three
quarters of a million by the end of 1995 as it continues to lead the
networking industry in training and certification.
