Novell Announces Licensing Agreement With Hewlett-Packard
Multimedia Home Computers Now Come Bundled With
Novell Consumer Software
OREM, Utah--April 3, 1995--Novell, Inc. today announced a licensing
agreement for its consumer division products with the Home Products
Division of Hewlett-Packard Company, a manufacturer of computing,
communications and measurement products and services. The bundle
will provide homes with productivity tools, entertainment and education
for kids.
The Novell consumer division products being bundled include
WordPerfect Works, Clip Art for the Home, Wallobee Jack: The Secret of
the Sphinx, Read with Me 1& 2, Write with Me and Memphis Math:
Treasure of the Tombs. The bundle is targeted exclusively at the home
market.
The Main Street titles will be included on the HP Multimedia 6100
Series, which includes three models in a price range from $1,699 to
$2,299. This all-age multimedia package is expected to be available to
consumers at the end of April.
"These consumer software titles from Novell will provide an
enriching computing experience that everyone in the family will enjoy,"
said Jeff Mallett, vice president and general manager, Novell consumer
products division. "Adults will enjoy the productivity they gain from our
PerfectWorks packages and kids will love the activities included in our
entertainment and educational software."

Street software bundle provides the quality, value and end-user support
that will meet our customers' expectations and our early market goals."
WordPerfect Works is Novell's integrated works package that
features six modules # a word-processor, spreadsheet, database,
draw, paint and communications. Clip Art for Home lets users dress up
cards or letters, while Wallobee Jack provides hours of interactive
cartoon fun for users ages 7 and up.
Read With Me 1&2 gives children a head start on reading by
helping them develop color, shape, number, letter and word recognition
skills. Write with Me lets kids create cards, signs, letters and books while
building alphabet familiarization, word recognition and overall writing
skills. Memphis Math is a math adventure that focuses on fractions,
decimals and percents while exploring the tombs of ancient Egypt.
Read with Me has received a Family PC recommendation and
Memphis Math has received awards from Media& Methods and Parents
Choice.
These award-winning education titles were developed for Novell
by the Waterford Institute, a non-profit research center specializing in
multimedia education software for children.
HP machines will be available with the Main Street products at the
end of April in Circuit City stores. Other products to be bundled in the HP
offering include Quicken SE, Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia, Simply
House by 4Home Productions, Microsoft Home CD Sampler and America
Online, CompuServe and Prodigy.
Main Street consumer software is also licensed by Pionex,
Quantex and 3D Micro of Canada. Other software bundling agreements
will be announced during 1995.
