Novell Announces Multimedia Clip Art Package

Sound Effects, Music, Video, Fonts and Images on One CD-ROM

ATLANTA -- April 24, 1995 -- Novell, Inc. today announced the Novell Clip Art Multimedia Collection on CD-ROM for Windows will begin shipping in June. The new version of Novell's clip art package now offers clip art images, sound effects, music clips, video clips and a selection of fonts for a true multimedia creation experience. The new title will be available as part of the newly announced PerfectHome software line from the Novell Consumer Division.

The new clip art collection offers 5,500 professionally drawn images in 14 categories. Categories include business, cartoons, culture, design, education, government, home, kidspack, maps and flags, outdoors, people, seasonal, sports and symbols. All images are available in CGM and WPG format and are compatible with Windows applications.

The multimedia collection also includes the Kudo Image Browser. This tool utilizes OLE to allow users to drag and drop an image or sound file from the browser into the desired application. The Kudo Image Browser also allows users to initiate key-word searches of image and audio files. In the browser, users can view images or video clips and play audio files.

Users can have fun with the sound effects included with the Multimedia Clip Art Collection. Sound effect files can be used in a user's Windows environment, presentations program or other applications. Users can also use the files as they make original video or computer creations. More than 170 sound effects include thunder, laughter, a scream, honking horns, a banjo, a dog barking and a train.

Also new in this version are 101 WAV music clips and 267 MIDI music clips. The music clips include short and long segments ranging from jazz, to fanfare, to organ music. A number of short WAV clips are included and can be used in presentation applications. Most of the MIDI segments are longer and can be edited with a sequencing software program.

Users can search all music and sound effects by performing a key-word search. The search enables users to find what they're looking for quickly and easily.

The Clip Art Multimedia Collection also includes 16 video clips and 20 background images. The video clips, all AVI files, are short cartoon or animated segments that can be used in any application that is OLE compliant and has Video for Windows installed. The background images are BMP files and can be used as wallpaper in Windows or as a background when creating a presentation.

The new version of clip art will also include 250 bitstream TrueType fonts. Users can copy the fonts of their choice into the Windows font manager and access the fonts in any Windows application that utilizes fonts.

System Requirements and Availability

The Clip Art Multimedia Collection is available on CD-ROM for Windows and will have a suggested retail price of $39.95. The program requires a 386 processor or higher with 2MB RAM, 1 MB hard-disk space, Windows 3.0 or higher and a CD-ROM drive.

The Clip Art Multimedia Collection, a Novell PerfectHome product, will be available in June from software retailers, superstores, warehouse clubs or directly from Novell, Inc. at (800) 451-5151.
