Novell Ships Quattro Pro 5.5 For DOS

Novell continues its commitment to DOS spreadsheet development

OREM, Utah -- May 16, 1995 -- Novell today announced that it has shipped Quattro Pro 5.5 for DOS, the latest version of the award-winning spreadsheet. With continued demand in many corporate accounts and government agencies for a robust DOS spreadsheet, Quattro Pro 5.5 delivers a wide range of functionality that is currently only available in Windows spreadsheets. Quattro Pro 5.5 for DOS helps spreadsheet users of every skill level get their work done quickly and easily, while continuing to provide the most powerful analytical tools of any DOS spreadsheet. Quattro Pro 5.5 for DOS provides the best interoperability with NetWare (allowing easy network installation and administration), and the best integration with WordPerfect for DOS. Quattro Pro 5.5 also allows users to seamlessly transition from Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS, and includes Lotus 1-2-3 compatible menus, executes Lotus 1-2-3 macros and reads and writes Lotus 1-2-3 files and styles.

Common Tasks Made Easier

Quattro Pro 5.5 for DOS includes 50 new QuickTemplates that speed up the preparation of invoices, purchase orders, expense reports and more. Users can customize the existing templates or add their own to the user interface. SpeedFill intelligently inserts a series of numbers, a combination of letters and numbers, labels (such as days or months) and supports any user-defined series. SpeedFormat offers users 25 colorful custom formats and does all the work for the user by adding fonts, line drawing, numeric formats and more. Quattro Pro 5.5 also makes it simple for users to define their own SpeedFormats. Advanced formatting now allows users to mix fonts and colors within a cell, center text across a block and apply color shading to cells. And Quattro Pro 5.5 also gives users access to a wider range of printing options, including the latest HP LaserJet printers.

Extensive Compatibility with Lotus 1-2-3

Quattro Pro 5.5 for DOS allows users to leverage their current investment in Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets with compatible menus and conversions for files, styles and macros. A more sophisticated version of the Lotus 1-2-3 menu tree allows users to continue working with the same Lotus commands and keystrokes, while offering enhanced functionality found only in Quattro Pro. Quattro Pro reads Lotus 1-2-3 release 1.x, 2.x, 3.x files, and Allways, Impress and WYSIWYG styles. With the KeyReader option, users can execute Lotus 1-2-3 macros.
