Novell appoints Charles Callis as vice president, marketing, for Europe, Middle East and
Africa
Novell has appointed Charles Callis as vice president, marketing, for its
Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Callis moves from his
current role as vice president, enterprise marketing for EMEA, and will be
responsible for all marketing activity within the EMEA region
Callis, who is a US citizen, joined Novell in 1987 as part of the US
corporate marketing team. Since 1989, he has been based in Europe,
where he has held a number of senior sales and marketing positions
within Novell in the UK, Germany and Switzerland.
Commenting on the appointment, Ian Fraser, vice president for EMEA,
said, "Charles has a depth and breadth of knowledge and skills that make
him an ideal choice for this new position. Novell EMEA now accounts for
nearly 30% of the company's total revenues and our marketing effort is
vital to us maintaining and growing our market leadership in Europe".
Charles Callis said, "The task of marketing is to clearly differentiate Novell
in an increasingly complex and competitive business environment. We
will be targetting the individual buyer, small and medium businesses, and
enterprise businesses with messages and programmes that are
appropriate to their needs; and we will increase our market penetration
by focussing our product, service and solution initiatives on key market
segments."
