Novell Enhances Support For NetWare Client For Windows NT

Provides E-Mail Support, Delivers Patch to Ease Integration with NetWare 3.11

PROVO, Utah -- July 24, 1995 -- Novell, Inc. today expanded its customer support options for the NetWare# Client for Windows NT by providing direct electronic mail access to Novell technical and marketing resources. The company also delivered additional software to be used with the NT client, giving Windows NT workstation users full access to all NetWare 3.11 files and resources with support for both ODI and NDIS network drivers.

In order to help users more quickly address NetWare Client for Windows NT installation and configuration issues, Novell has created an electronic mail support "hotline," enabling customers to forward questions directly to Novell technical and marketing representatives at no charge. Windows NT client users can reach Novell for support at Internet address [ntclient@novell.com] through September 15, 1995.

Novell designed the NetWare Client for Windows NT to meet the needs of customers integrating Windows NT workstations into Novell environments. The Novell client software provides NT workstation users with access to the advanced network services of NetWare, including the NetWare Directory Services# (NDS) in NetWare 4. NDS dramatically lowers the cost of network administration by enabling users to easily identify, access and connect with information or sources and other people.

"We've seen strong customer interest in the NetWare Client for Windows NT since we released it free of charge through our online services," said William Donahoo, director of product marketing for Novell's Operating Systems Division. "Customers continue to rely on Novell for open access to NetWare from all major client platforms, including Windows NT. At the same time, users committed to NT clients want access to the superior networking technology and lower cost of network ownership that NetWare provides. Novell provides the best client connectivity to NetWare environments, and the availability of free online technical support for the NT client underscores our commitment to NetWare users."

The software patch for the NetWare Client for Windows NT is designed to let customers connect to NetWare 3.11 resources using NDIS network drivers. The 145K self-extracting file is currently available for download from Novell's FTP server on the Internet and the NetWire forum on CompuServe. Version 3.5 of the NetWare Client for Windows NT is located in the Client Shell Drivers library of the NOVLIB forum. The patch will also be available through Novell's World Wide Web site on the Internet (URL: http://www.novell.com).
