Novell Ships Updated WordPerfect Internet Publisher For Windows
Simplifies Creating and Viewing Documents on the Internet and World-Wide Web
OREM, Utah -- August 22, 1995 -- Novell, Inc. today announced
it has shipped an enhanced version of WordPerfect# Internet Publisher
for Windows#, a free add-on to the WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows word
processor. Internet Publisher allows users to easily create and view
documents on the Internet without having to learn hypertext markup
language (HTML), the original document format of the World-Wide Web.
Internet Publisher includes Netscape Navigator 1.1, the most recent
version of the popular browser for the World-Wide Web, as well as new
capabilities including support for simple tables, print preview and a more
WYSIWYG authoring environment.
"We have closely monitored users since WordPerfect Internet
Publisher for Windows first became available," said David Harkness,
director of marketing for Novell's electronic publishing tools. "We are
committed to keeping users up-to-date with the best new browsing
technologies as they arrive in the marketplace. With the most recent
version of Netscape Navigator, support for tables and tools to easily
view content, users will have a more satisfying Internet experience.
"We want to emphasize that every WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows
user has a license for the Internet Publisher and Netscape Navigator 1.1.
We encourage all our WordPerfect users to take advantage of the
Internet Publisher to create their own home page," continued Harkness.
Easily View Documents
Internet Publisher now includes fonts in the document template
which more closely resemble how the text will appear in Netscape so
users can get an accurate view of how their documents will appear
when posted on the Internet. If users are not connected to the Internet,
they can use Netscape Navigator 1.1 on their local drive to see what
their documents will look like on the World-Wide Web. A new table
conversion capability for the first time enables users to include tables in
their Internet documents. The installation of the Internet Publisher has
also been improved to more accurately detect its components on the
user's system.
Easily Create and View Internet Files
The Internet Publisher gives WordPerfect 6.1 users everything
they need to create hypertext markup language (HTML) documents, the
original document format of the World-Wide Web. A template guides
users through the process of creating an HTML document, and a
conversion program automatically converts the WordPerfect document
into a native HTML file. Users can access HTML features such as
hypertext links, graphics and bullet lists from the WordPerfect toolbar, as
well as the features most commonly used in creating a home page such
as links to other documents, graphic images and lists for easy navigation
to other areas on their page. With these tools, users do not need to learn
an HTML authoring tool or have a detailed knowledge of HTML.
In addition to the HTML template, Netscape Navigator 1.1 and the
Envoy viewer are included. The free availability of the Envoy viewer
enables users to publish documents directly on the Web in native Envoy
format. No conversion to HTML is required. WordPerfect Internet
Publisher is downloadable from the Internet at
