Novell To Assist Customers With Windows 95 Integration Issues

OREM, Utah -- August 24, 1995 -- Novell today outlined programs to provide its customers and service partners with technical support and information on integration issues related to Windows 95. Novell has placed detailed technical information on NetWire®, the company's on-line technical information service located on the Internet and on CompuServe. Novell has also prepared its technical support engineers to assist customers using Novell technologies with Windows 95.

"We expect a variety of technical support needs will be raised by the initial release of Windows 95, and Novell is prepared to help its customers and service partners with those issues," said Kim Cooper, vice president of Marketing and Business Development for Novell Technical Services.

Customers will find technical support information and files related to the integration of Novell technologies and Windows 95 on CompuServe (GO NETWIRE) and on the World Wide Web (http://netwire.novell.com [link removed]). This information will include:

  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
  • Installation and troubleshooting guides
  • Technical Information Documents (TIDS)
  • Downloadable patches

Novell also maintains a searchable database containing all known issues related to the integration of Novell technologies with Windows 95 and has created two new sections in NetWire on CompuServe--one for NetWare® Client 32® for Windows 95 and a second for VLM clients on Windows 95. Novell has also created content locations specific to Windows 95 issues for each of its electronic-based technical support offerings.

"The first item listed in NetWire on Novell's web page is Windows 95 support," added Cooper. "Customers can find the information easily accessible on all major electronic delivery vehicles--on-line, over the Internet, via fax, and on our knowledgebase CD-ROM."

One of Novell's technical support strategies is to continually increase the knowledge and confidence of its customers and service partners, enabling them to maximize productivity through full use of the self-help tools and services provided by Novell.

Novell distributes electronic-based technical support information so its customers and service partners can quickly find the answers they need. Additionally, Novell SYSOPS are responding to customer inquiries placed in NetWire forums on CompuServe. The Windows 95-related technical information and files will also be available on the next shipment of Novell's Network Support Encyclopedia (NSEPro) knowledgebase CD-ROM. This information is also available via fax from Novell FaxBack by calling (800) 228-9960 or (801) 429-3239.

To assist those customers who prefer to receive technical support over the phone, Novell has trained its technical support engineers on Windows 95 integration issues. Complimentary direct support from Novell is available on toll-free lines for customers entitled to Classic Service. Fee-based Priority and Premium Service options are also available.

Novell has established support hotlines for its service partners, providing them with priority access for issues relating to integration with Windows 95.
