Novell Organizes Group For High-Growth Networking Markets
San Jose, CA -- September 8, 1995 -- In a move to effectively
address the needs of customers, partners, and the sales channel,
Novell, Inc. today announced that it has reorganized the Information
Access and Management Group. The newly organized group, reporting
to Executive Vice President and General Manager Steve Markman,
comprises three divisions: Internet Commerce, Communications
Infrastructure and Management Products.
This organization allows Novell to effectively focus on solutions
and initiatives that provide the foundation to, and management of,
information resources customers want on either public or private
networks. Initiatives range from intuitive and navigational software that
allow easy access of all networked information and resources, to the
implementation of a global data network for secure business
communications based on the Internet.
Internet Commerce Division
The Internet Commerce Division is focusing on giving users in
homes and businesses networked application suites and integrated
access to commercial online services, the Internet and AT&T NetWare#
Connect Services. This new division is led by Vice President and
General Manager Vic Langford. The division brings together both Novell
and industry technologies that enables millions of users to leverage
existing NetWare environments to connect to the Internet, access its rich
business resources, and establish an Internet presence for publicizing
products and services.
Communications Infrastructure Division
The Communications Infrastructure Division has been formed in
response to the convergence of local-area network (LAN) and
wide-area network (WAN); data and voice integration; wire and wireless
communications. Led by Vice President and General Manager Tom
Steding, this division comprises telephony services, WAN and host
connectivity, remote and mobile access. This consolidation brings
together diverse technologies that provide innovative solutions with rich
functionality to Novell customers.
Management Products Division
The Management Products Division continues to drive the
company's strategic initiative for integrated management. The division,
headed by Vice President and General Manager Prem Uppaluru, delivers
tools and technologies that bring end-to-end management solutions to
Novell networks of all sizes. The division's products and technologies
provide the foundation necessary to manage all elements of today's
heterogeneous networks.
"The technology and products from these three divisions and
other Novell divisions, provide the necessary framework for the AT&T
NetWare Connect Services and commerce on that network," said Steve
Markman, the group's senior executive. "With this reorganization, we're
extending Novell's LAN leadership into the global networking arena."
