Novell Announces WordPerfect 5.2+ for Unix Character Systems

Users of UNIX Character Systems Can Now Take Advantage of the Most Popular UNIX Word Processor

OREM, Utah -- Sept. 11, 1995 -- Novell, Inc. today announced WordPerfect 5.2+ for UNIX, a version of its industry-leading word processor designed specially for character-based UNIX environments. WordPerfect 5.2+ will be available for eight major character versions of UNIX. The product ships on the same CD-ROM as the graphical WordPerfect 6.0 for UNIX, giving customers a true cross-platform word processing solution. WordPerfect 6.0 for UNIX is also available for nine major graphical UNIX systems.

Because WordPerfect 5.2+ and WordPerfect 6.0 share the same file format and features, users can easily exchange documents in mixed UNIX environments. WordPerfect 5.2+ offers a number of features to automate and simplify common tasks including a customizable interface with a Button Bar, Power Bar, and Status Bar; ExpressDocs to create common documents such as fax forms, memos, invoices and newsletters; drawing and charting modules; QuickFinder for fast text indexing and retrieval; a tables feature and the Grammatik grammar checker.

Version 5.2+ for UNIX also includes WPPRINT, which performs batch mode, command-line printing and merging in the UNIX environment. WordPerfect offers the best printer support in the industry, allowing users to print identical documents to more than 1,100 printers.

WordPerfect 5.2+ for UNIX is available today for Santa Cruz Operation's SCO UNIX, Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX and IBM's AIX. In the fourth quarter of 1995, WordPerfect 5.2+ will add support for these additional UNIX character systems: Novell's UnixWare; AT&T GIS systems; SunOS; Solaris2 and Siemens Nixdorf.

WordPerfect 5.2+ for UNIX has a suggested retail price of $495 (US). Upgrades to WordPerfect 5.2+ for UNIX are available for $129 (US) and additional license upgrades are available for $89 (US).
