Novell Signs With Compaq To Bundle PerfectWorks

PerfectWorks To Provide Compaq Customers With Easy-To-Use Software Solution

OREM, Utah -- September 14, 1995 -- Novell, Inc. today announced its PerfectWorks for Windows software will begin being bundled on the new Compaq Presario 7100 Series, the latest Pentium computers designed for the consumer market. PerfectWorks, the integrated "Works" software package, will provide Compaq customers with easy-to-use word processing, database, spreadsheet, painting, drawing and communications modules.

The Compaq Presario 7100 Series includes two models, the Presario 7170 (Intel Pentium 90 MHz system, $1,699) and the Presario 7180 (Intel Pentium 100 MHz system, $1,999). Both systems also come standard with a quad-speed CD-ROM drive and 8MB of RAM.

"We realize PC companies have a choice in what products they bundle on their consumer machines and we're flattered that Compaq has chosen to include PerfectWorks over other Works packages," said Jeff Mallett, general manager, Novell Personal Access Division. "We're confident PerfectWorks will add tremendous value for Compaq's customers."

"Compaq offers one of the highest quality software bundles of any consumer multimedia machine on the market today," said Rod Schrock, v.p. Consumer Division, Compaq Computer Corporation. "Compaq chose PerfectWorks because of the ease of use features we think will really appeal to our first time buyers."

Leading computer industry publications have recently reviewed PerfectWorks as a great software solution for the home and small office. In their October issue, HOMEPC gives PerfectWorks their Gold Star Award as the highest rated and easiest to use Works package for the Windows category. Home Office Computing's September issue rated PerfectWorks "Almost Perfect" with a 3# star rating out of 4. PC WORLD made PerfectWorks a "Hot Pick for the Home Office" in their July 1995 issue.
