Novell Extends GroupWise Promotion To December 31
20 Percent Price Reduction Attracts Customers During
Microsoft Exchange Delays
OREM, Utah -- October 13, 1995 -- Fueling the growing demand for integrated messaging and groupware solutions among organizations worldwide, Novell#, Inc. today announced that it has extended the
GroupWise price reduction promotion to Dec. 31, 1995. First announced on July 6, 1995, the promotion offers a 20 percent price reduction for customers upgrading to the GroupWise messaging system from
WordPerfect Office, as well as for NetWare customers moving from
Lotus cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail or IBM PROFS systems.
Included in the promotion are new migration kits to help customers easily move from Lotus, Microsoft and IBM's messaging products to
Novell's more productive collaborative computing solution--GroupWise.
"This price reduction will motivate customers frustrated by new delays in Microsoft Exchange to move to GroupWise,"said Steve Adams, vice president of marketing, Novell GroupWare Division. "Customers, frustrated by further delays of Microsoft Exchange, are considering
GroupWise because it offers advanced messaging features today."
"Novell's GroupWise today provides many of the features being touted for the future Microsoft product, including a Universal In Box, threaded conferencing, tightly integrated calendaring/scheduling and server-based agents," said David Marshak, a vice president at Patricia
Seybold's Office Computing Group in Boston.
In fact, many customers have already begun the migration from
Microsoft Mail to GroupWise, according to Adams. These customers include McDonnell Douglas and NordicTrack, among others.
With revenues and market share that have doubled over the past year and an installed base of more than 5 million users, GroupWise remains the first and only enterprise-wide collaborative computing system to integrate E-mail, personal calendaring, group scheduling, voice mail, faxes, Internet messages, task management and information access into a single user environment.
"Customers today are demanding more scalable and feature-rich solutions that leverage the network environment," said Adams. A prime example of this, he said, was shown at the recent Networld + Interop event on Sept. 26-28 in Atlanta, when a GroupWise system supported more than 75,000 users who processed more than 3.4 million messages.
In addition to providing users with a single environment for accessing and distributing multiple types of information, GroupWise leverages Novell's NetWare services, which in turn reduces a customer's total cost of ownership for maintaining a collaborative-computing solution. A simple, low-cost migration to
GroupWise is now available, due in large part to the price reduction promotion. The promotion provides customers with all the tools necessary to migrate from their existing E-mail products to GroupWise, without interrupting the organization's work and at a significantly lower cost than before.
The price promotion reduces the suggested retail price of the
GroupWise five-user Client/Administration upgrade package to $195. The message server promotion packages are priced between $140 and
$560, depending on server platform. For more information about the
GroupWise upgrade promotion, customers can call their local reseller or

GroupWise is also the perfect messaging partner to Novell's NetWare, the industry's dominant network operating system. With GroupWise and NetWare, Novell eliminates the need to separately manage network and messaging systems, making NetWare the network that is ready for tomorrow, today.
