Novell Integrates CDs and Websites into Single Point of Access for Customers and Channel
Partners
Simplifies Business-to-Business Information Exchange and
Communications
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, -- November 13 -- Novell, Inc. today announced an electronic
information service that provides customers and channel partners worldwide with point-and-click
access to comprehensive business, marketing and technical resources stored on
CD-ROMs and the Internet. The service, delivered through Novell's
Electronic Business Information System, also supports direct online communications between
Novell customers and channel partners by launching connections from CD-ROMs to Internet
websites. The new service increases the scope, depth and immediacy of Novell resources
available for individual search and use.
Novell's Electronic Business Information System improves on both
Novell's award-winning World Wide Web and its Market Messenger
CD-ROM service. The service is composed of three interactive components:
- Novell Messenger - Delivered quarterly on CD-ROM, this service for systems engineers,
network administrators and applications specialists includes searchable multimedia files on
Novell products, point-and-click access to Novell's website for late-breaking news and live,
interactive access to Novell channel sales, service and third-party partners.
- Novell Power Partner - This CD-ROM addresses the requirements of
Novell's channel partners, spanning demonstrations, presentations, sales guides and special
promotional tools. It uses the same model as the
Novell Messenger, providing point-and-click access to websites.
- Novell World Wide - The award-winning Novell website has been redesigned, establishing
new standards for Internet website design and information accessability. The site provides
comprehensive Novell product, program and events information and links to channel sales,
service and third-party partners. Any Internet user with a browser can access Novell World Wide
at www.novell.com.
"Integrating CD-ROM and Internet technologies enabled us to create a valuable service that
responds quickly and consistently to the diverse needs of millions of customers and thousands of
channel partners worldwide," said Joe Marengi, executive vice president of
Novell worldwide sales. "We are particularly pleased with the direct, interactive access we now
facilitate between our customers and partners."
"This is an excellent example of providing new levels of value to customers and partners by
combining desktop and network applications," said Christine Hughes, senior vice president of
Novell's corporate marketing. "This kind of service will redefine our basic concepts of
business-to-business marketing, communications and relationship-building."
Novell's Electronic Information System is designed, built and delivered using Novell products,
including NetWare, LAN WorkPlace and
GroupWise. Minimum system requirements include a 386 processor, mouse and Windows 3.1.
Internet access capability is required.
