Novell Expands Enterprise Consulting Partner Program To Global Audience With New Vp, Tools, Services

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- December 11, 1995 -- Responding to customer and partner requests, Novell, Inc. today announced the global expansion of its Enterprise Consulting Partners program to include the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. Novell's Enterprise Consulting Partners program was created specifically to ease the installation and support of large, enterprise-wide Novell networks by partnering with an elite group of the industry's leading systems integrators and consulting organizations.

Andersen Consulting is one of Novell's largest Enterprise Consulting Partners. "Andersen Consulting's relationship with Novell has been very strong over the years and the global ECP program is helping us build even more momentum," said Christopher Teeter, partner in charge of Andersen Consulting's Network Solutions consulting practice. "This expansion of the Novell Consulting program enhances our ability to deliver value to our clients worldwide. Novell is providing us with innovative tools, training, and support enabling us to design and deliver world-class architectures supporting today's increasingly network-centric business systems," concludes Teeter.

Today's announcement signals a dramatic shift in the way Novell enterprise partners receive tools, training and support for Novell enterprise business solutions. The Enterprise Consulting Partners program has been enhanced with the addition of a new vice president, a 50 percent increase in Novell field consultants worldwide, the addition of business development offices in Dusseldorf, Paris and Singapore, and value-added tools and other consulting practice aids that document and promote the best practices gathered by Novell consultants.

New VP Brings Vision to Novell's Consulting Initiatives

Bob Wise is former CEO and member of the board of directors for USConnect, Inc., a network consulting and systems integration company. Wise was recently appointed vice president of Novell Consulting. He assumes responsibilities for Novell's worldwide consulting division, including the expansion of Novell's Enterprise Consulting Program. He brings new engagement practices, business priorities, and customer focus to Novell Consulting from his more than 10 years of network solutions consulting experience.

"Global customers are looking for top-down, one-stop solutions from a single service provider," said Wise. "Our goal is to provide the world's premier consultants and systems integrators with in-depth networking information, enabling them to deliver enterprise-wide business solutions based on Novell products. Enterprise Consulting Partners are helping us to achieve a smart global network that brings together business networks and the Internet."

Innovative Tools Keep Partners Competitive

To deliver on its commitment to assisting Enterprise Consulting Partners at every level, Novell has deployed a range of tools that enable partner companies to deliver flexible and competitive client-server solutions. Novell has developed software conversion utilities that allow partners to migrate their customers to NetWare from other network operating systems. These utilities provide across-the-wire migration and allow the customer to automatically convert user information, access rights and data from other environments to NetWare and Novell Directory Services. Consultant training for this powerful tool will be available in January 1996.

Novell is also developing custom network simulation software for its partners, allowing them to quickly evaluate the performance of NetWare and network applications in an existing enterprise network. This modeling/simulation software is a valuable tool for consultants and integrators who can use them to take the guesswork out of planning for changes in customer environments.

New Services Available Worldwide

Enterprise Consulting Partners also have access to Novell consulting resources, Novell sales, developer and technical support services through the Enterprise Consulting Partner program. Novell Consulting has held specialized "knowledge transfer" workshops for its partners at dozens of locations worldwide, serving hundreds of consultants.

Enterprise Consulting Partner program benefits also include the new CD-ROM-based Novell Consulting Tool Kit and on-line access to product information and support services via Novell's web site.

"The service industry is the fastest growing segment of the IT market," said Pat Colbert, president of The Chandler Group. "Industry trends point to customers demanding a single consulting organization providing everything from management consulting to systems building, even outsourcing, if necessary. Novell is a key source of enterprise networking services and solutions, and clearly recognizes this opportunity to meet the needs of its global end users."
