Novell Announces Strengthened and Streamlined Marketing Organisation In Europe

New appointments made at European and Region One level

Novell Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) is announcing a restructuring of its marketing organisation in order to refocus Novell's products and services marketing at both a central and local level. As a result of these changes, a number of new appointments are being made.

In addition, Tom Schuster, previously Director of Distribution Sales for Novell Europe, has been appointed as vice president for Region One, responsible for Novell's sales and marketing in the UK, Middle East and Africa. He is also acting country manager for Novell UK.

According to Charles Callis, Vice President, Marketing, Novell EMEA, "Novell as an organisation is refocussing on its core networking software business. The changes to Novell EMEA's marketing structure are intended to meet the evolving needs of our customers and partners in a highly positive manner. In purely practical terms, initiatives from the newly restructured central EMEA marketing group will be developed, packaged and implemented in a way that makes them most effective locally".

Novell EMEA Marketing will consist of a number of central departments, each with a clear focus, such as customers, partners, solutions and products. Each department will be responsible for developing its own programmes, quarterly campaigns, and related marketing activity. The departments will work closely with local country organisations to develop effective marketing initiatives.

The six departments of the new European marketing and their respective directors are: Programmes Marketing - Director, Herman Pauwels
Market Relations - Director, Graeme Allan (previously Brand Marketing Director)
Marketing Services - Director, Chantal Carton
Solutions Marketing - Director, David Godwin (previously Novell UK Country Director)
Events Marketing - Director, Duncan Baldwin (previously Novell External Relations Director)
Major Account Programme Marketing - Director, Senour Reed.

Programmes Marketing

The Programmes Marketing department will be responsible for building Novell's channel and business infrastructure. It will create distributor, reseller, OEM and retailing programmes and will also work to integrate all of Novell s infrastructure marketing groups, delivering consistent, clear and targeted initiatives to developers, consultants, and training and support organisations.

Market Relations

The Market Relations team will be responsible for relationships with influencers within the computing industry, including the trade and business press, industry analysts, and other special interest groups.

Marketing Services

The Marketing Services Department will play a critical role in developing the marketing mix Novell uses to bring major initiatives and programmes to market. It will be responsible for advertising, marketing, collateral development, database/direct marketing, market intelligence and the flow of internal and external marketing information.

Solutions Marketing

The Solutions Marketing Group will have responsibility for managing and integrating Novell's European product marketing teams in partnership with Novell s product groups.

Events Marketing

The Events Marketing Department will work with Novell EMEA and local country marketing organisations to more effectively use industry events to communicate Novell messages.

Enterprise Marketing

The Enterprise Marketing Department will continue to focus on developing Novell s market profile and business opportunities in targeted market sectors. The group will develop effective marketing, partnering and customer support strategies to drive market growth and revenues.

Major Account Programme Marketing

The Major Account Programme Marketing team will continue its focus on developing competitive customer software licensing agreements for Novell EMEA markets.
