Novell Appoints Hans-Werner Hector to Board of Directors

Orem, UT -- December 12, 1995 -- Novell, Inc. today named Hans-Werner Hector to the company's Board of Directors, filling the seat vacated by the retirement of Kanwal S. Rekhi in August.

Hector is a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of SAP AG, the leading international software firm. From 1992 through June 1995 he was CEO, president, and vice chairman of SAP's U.S. Subsidiary, SAP America, Inc.

Hector, age 55, has played a leading role in the growth of SAP AG from startup in 1972 to today's international public company with over 6,400 employees and over 28 subsidiaries and affiliates. SAP AG, with headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, is one of the largest independent software companies in the world and is the market leader in standard business software applications.

Hector's appointment increases Novell's board representation to eight. In addition to Frankenberg and Hector, the board includes: Alan Ashton, co-founder of the former WordPerect Corporation; Elaine R. Bond, formerly senior vice president with chief technology officer responsibilities at Chase Manhattan Bank; Jack L. Messman, president and CEO of Union Pacific Resources Group Inc.; Larry W. Sonsini, member of the law firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati; John Young, former president and chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard Company; and Ian R. Wilson, managing partner of Dartford Partnership and chairman of the board of Van de Camps, Inc., New Age Beverages Limited, and Windy Hill Pet Food Co., L.L.C.
