Novell Announces NetWare Telephony Services 2.21
OREM, Utah -- February 12, 1996 -- Novell, Inc. today
announced the release of NetWare Telephony Services 2.21, bringing
the power of NetWare Directory Services (NDS) to Novell's network
telephony integration system.
NetWare Telephony Services connects computer networks and
telephone systems, allowing existing line-of-business applications to
automate and integrate call handling with business processes. Network
applications that use NetWare Telephony Services are able to place
calls, route calls, report system wide telephone activity and provide
call-related information simultaneously with the call.
NetWare Telephony Services 2.21 is fully integrated with
NetWare 4.1, so administrators can manage their systems using the
familiar NetWare 4.1 administration interface and NetWare Directory
Services (NDS). This means the telephony server can be securely
administered from anywhere in the network, under the same policies and
using the same tools as the rest of the network. Additionally, NetWare
Telephony Services uses NDS to assign telephone services and user
rights to users who already exist on a network; it saves the
administrator from the time and effort required to build a separate
telephony database that would create administrative duplication.
NetWare Telephony Services 2.21 also supports TCP/IP
connections natively between the telephony server and Windows 3.1
clients. This TCP/IP support makes NetWare Telephony Services the only
network telephony solution designed to work in a pure TCP/IP
environment as well as an IPX/SPX environment.
NetWare Telephony Services is based on Novell's Telephony
Services Application Programming Interface (TSAPI), that represents the
de facto international call processing standard: CSTA. Its foundation in
this standard has attracted broad industry support. Today, more than 16
switch drivers and 43 applications are available in use by customers
world wide.
Pricing and availability
NetWare Telephony Services 2.21 is available immediately.
Licenses are available for 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 250 users at prices
ranging from $1,295 for 5 users to $26,995 for 250 users. Upgrade
pricing is also available for users of previous versions of NetWare
Telephony Services.
