Novell Giving Program Bolsters Community Living
OREM, Utah -- February 14, 1996 -- Novell, Inc. and its
employees are reaching out to improve the quality of life in communities
where employees live and work. In the recently completed annual food
drive, the company and employees donated a total of 460,000 meals to
local food banks across the country, and in the first-ever
company-matched employee giving campaign, employees designated
pledges of more than $104,000 to address local issues such as
homelessness, domestic abuse, education, environmental causes and
animal protection.
"Novell employees care deeply about the overall health of their
communities," said Bob Frankenberg, Chairman and CEO. "As a
company, Novell shares this employee concern and is committed to
making a positive difference, especially in the areas of critical community
needs, education and cultural arts."
To help charitable organizations communicate with each other to
deliver their services more efficiently, Novell granted nearly $2 million in
new networking and business application software to organizations
such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, World
Wildlife Fund, Foundation for Educational Innovation, The Tech Museum
of Innovation, Community Nursing Services and the United Way. In
addition to software, Novell donated more than $560,000 in cash to
organizations such as the San Jose Education Network, Junior
Achievement, Make-a Wish Foundation, San Jose Repertory Theatre
Company, Sundance Children's Theatre and Ballet West.
This year, the Chicago Sales Office took first place in the Novell
food drive Corporate Challenge by contributing 487 meals per employee
to the Chicago Food Depository, which provides food to most area food
banks.
"Under the enthusiastic leadership of sales support
representative Cathy Krewer, and with the participation of everyone in
the office, we continue to increase contributions to the Depository year
after year," said Chuck Meister, Novell Region Director. "The entire
Chicago team proudly supports Novell's nationwide effort to help our
local communities."
