Novell Lowers Price of LAN WorkPlace 5 for MS Windows and
DOS; Releases Product in Five Additional Languages
What:
To help make universal host and Internet TCP/IP (Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol) connectivity easier and more accessible,
Novell® has substantially reduced the price of the single- and 100-user
versions of LAN WorkPlace® 5 for MS Windows® and DOS. The
company also released the product, the world's leading desktop TCP/IP
solution, in five additional languages.
Effective April 1, the price of the single-user pack has been lowered to
$249 and the 100-user product to $6,995, from $399 and $12,995
respectively. This represents an average reduction of 42 percent,
making the product the lowest-priced TCP/IP connectivity solution among
industry leaders. Prices for major account programs have been similarly
reduced.
Additionally, LAN WorkPlace 5 is now available in multiple languages,
making the product more attractive for international and multi-national
companies. The product is now available in Dutch, French, Italian,
German and Spanish, in addition to the English version. Finally, installation
of the product has been improved, in direct response to customer
requests.
LAN WorkPlace 5 provides Windows and DOS users with concurrent
access to TCP/IP Internet and NetWare® resources. The product's full
suite of WinSock applications gives the user terminal emulation with
drag-and-drop keyboard remapping, graphical file transfer via FTP (File
Transfer Protocol), transparent NFS® (Network File System) file sharing
and a graphical dialer for connecting easily from remote locations. The
products come with a copy of Netscape Navigator®.
When:
The new prices are effective April 1. The new language versions are
available starting March 29.
