Web Server Available Free to Customers for 45 Days

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- July 8, 1996 -- Novell, Inc. is now shipping Novell InnerWeb Publisher™ and NetWare Web Server 2.5. Also, the NetWare Web Server is now available to customers for a free 45-day time trial. Customers can download the software from Novell's web site (http://webnlm.novell.com). The products, which were announced April 30, make it easy for customers to publish, access and manage information on corporate intranets and the Internet.

"We had a good experience with the Novell InnerWeb Publisher," said John Antalvari, manager of advanced systems testing for Telxon Incorporated of Akron, Ohio, a beta tester of the product. "It is powerful and installed easily. The product's IP-to-IPX gateway is a big plus because it means we don't have to install TCP/IP on all the desktops. Eventually we plan to use InnerWeb Publisher to replace our bulletin board system," he added.

The most comprehensive product of its kind on the market, Novell InnerWeb Publisher provides a complete solution for publishing internal Web documents on a corporate Web site. The convenient, cost-effective suite includes everything needed to convert a network into a powerful platform for publishing HTML pages. Specifically the product includes the world's fastest Web server, a Web browser, a Web-page authoring tool, an IPX-to-IP translator and the NetWare 4.1 Runtime™ operating system.

A key component of Novell InnerWeb Publisher, NetWare Web Server 2.5 allows customers to utilize NetWare servers as the core of their Web sites. The fastest Web server on the market, this NetWare Loadable Module™ (NLM™) is the only Web server that allows users to browse Novell Directory Services (NDS™) for fast access to critical information on network users and resources, including user names, e-mail addresses, Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and listings of computers and applications.

Novell InnerWeb Publisher is available for the suggested retail price of US $2,495, less than half the cost of purchasing the components individually. NetWare Web Server 2.5 has a suggested retail price of US$995.
