Novell's NetWare 4 Green River Sneak Peek To Provide CNEs, Other
Service Providers Pre-Release Novell-Authorized Training
Strong Product, Education Demand Drive Unprecedented
Pre-Release Training
OREM, Utah -- July 10, 1996 --To meet strong training
demand for the fall release of its market-leading NetWare® 4
network operating system, code-named Green River, Novell, Inc. today
announced the availability of pre-release courseware. The Green River
Sneak Peek program will allow Novell CNEs*, Master CNEs* and other
service professionals to learn the new features and functionality of the
upcoming release through select Novell Authorized Education Centers
(NAECs*) throughout North America, Europe and Australia. Novell will
offer two courses to provide service professionals with product
knowledge to better service and support Green River: one for those new
to NetWare 4, and one for those familiar with previous versions of
NetWare 4. The Green River Sneak Peek courses mark the first time
Novell has provided pre-release education opportunities for network
service professionals.
To date, more than 370,000 students have received Novell-authorized
training on NetWare 4, with some 30,000 students having completed
NetWare 4 First Class to introduce service professionals to the benefits
of networking with NetWare. "The momentum of NetWare 4 and the
popular success of Novell Education's authorized curriculum have
prompted this strong demand for Novell to offer Green River
courseware--even before the product is generally available," said
Carolyn G. Rose, senior vice president and general manager of Novell
Education.
Course Availability
The Green River Sneak Peek provides student customers with the
opportunity to receive quality, leading-edge training before the product
release, preparing them to lead their organizations in the migration to
Green River. "Novell Education's pre-release courseware reflects all of
the new features and functions of Green River. These training sessions
equip CNEs, Master CNEs and service providers with up-to-the-minute
knowledge of the most stable, reliable and secure network operating
system in the industry," added Rose.
The Green River Sneak Peek features two courses:
- Pre-release course #519pr NetWare 4 Green River First Class
introduces Green River features and functionality to individuals
new to NetWare 4. Additional Novell- authorized Green River
training is encouraged, beginning with course #526, NetWare 3 to
NetWare 4 Update; and
- Pre-release course #527pr NetWare 4.x to Green River Update
Seminar further educates service providers having already
supported prior versions of NetWare 4 or having completed the
Novell-authorized NetWare 4 curriculum.
As part of the Green River Sneak Peek, all student customers receive a
beta copy of Green River so they can test and run the new operating
system prior to its official fall release. Suggested retail price for each of
the one-day Green River Sneak Peek offerings is US$149. Courses for
Novell's Green River Sneak Peek are scheduled to begin Aug. 12. To

Green River Features and Availability
With more than 55 million users, NetWare continues to be the world's
best-selling network software. With the release of Green River, Novell
will provide a powerful platform for network, corporate intranet and
Internet solutions that will help organizations lower their overall cost of
network ownership. Major enhancements to the next version of NetWare
include:
- Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) scalability to support network
applications and intranets;
- Integrated TCP/IP support to simplify network management and ease
user access to both corporate intranet and Internet resources;
- C2-level security to protect sensitive data during transmission across
networks;
- Advanced network printing capabilities to give users more control
over their printing;
- Easier network migration and installation functionality; and
- New graphical administration tools to better manage companies'
network and Novell Directory Services (NDS)
environments.
Using Green River as the foundation for network solutions, companies
will be able to create and run networks that can adapt to their business
processes and provide them with an enduring competitive advantage.
Green River is currently in beta testing with a select group of customers,
development and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners.
