Novell Demos Cross-Platform Enterprise Solutions at SCO Forum96

Novell Directory Services Seamlessly Integrates Novell, IBM, Oracle and SCO Solutions

What:
Novell, Inc. will demonstrate enterprise networking solutions at SCO Forum96, the Santa Cruz Operation's (SCO) yearly event for developers and customers, taking place August 18-23 on the campus of the University of California, Santa Cruz. The demo, combining products and solutions from Novell, IBM, Oracle and SCO, underscores Novell's commitment to providing businesses with an enduring competitive edge by enabling them to benefit from Novell's industry-leading network services, including Novell Directory Services™ (NDS™), regardless of their server platform choices.

The demo will feature NDS, Novell's industry-standard global directory services, running on both Novell NetWare® 4.1 and SCO UnixWare 2.1 on IBM PC Server 320 machines. NDS enables administrators to seamlessly manage users and resources on both systems from a single location. In the demo, end users at Windows clients running Novell's Client 32™ for Windows will have transparent access to applications and files on both platforms from a single log-in. Applications in the demo include an Oracle7 database running on NetWare 4.1, Novell's GroupWise™ advanced client/server e-mail system and ManageWise™ 2.1, Novell's PC LAN management software.

The demo highlights Novell Cross-Platform Services™ (NCPS™), technology that enables the integration of NetWare 4.1 services, including NDS, NetWare File Services, NetWare Print Services, and other key Internet and intranet technologies, into other operating systems such as SCO UnixWare. Representatives from Novell, IBM, SCO and Oracle will be available to provide additional information and answer questions.
