CALLWARE PARTNERS WITH NOVELL TO DEVELOP CTI INTEGRATION FOR GROUPWISE 5

Unified Messaging Now Available through CallWare's NetWare-Based Integration with GroupWise 5

SALT LAKE CITY August 22, 1996 CallWare Technologies Inc., the only NetWare-based provider of computer telephone integration (CTI) solutions, today announced it will support Novell, Inc.'s expanded e-mail product line by integrating its software with GroupWise 5. CallWare will allow GroupWise 5 users to see and control voice mail messages from their Universal Mail Boxes, giving them access to their e-mail, voice mail and fax messages in the same location.

CallWare's LAN- and Intranet-ready, CTI-enabled voice mail and desktop call center solutions provide the only NetWare Loadable Module (NLM) in the voice messaging industry. As an NLM, CallWare operates natively with NetWare and provides administration benefits and robustness not available from non-NLM systems. CallWare currently is integrated with Novell Directory Services (NDS), telephony services and GroupWise 4.1.

CallWare's integration with GroupWise 5 brings unique advantages to NetWare customers, said Lowell Camp, Novell's director of developer relations. CallWare is the only CTI solution that is an NLM and utilizes NDS - this means simplified administration and lower cost of ownership for GroupWise 5 NetWare customers .

Because GroupWise is an Intranet-ready application, CallWare's integration provides both GroupWise and Intranet support. In addition, CallWare is the first CTI vendor to provide this support with integrated administration through NDS, said R. Craig Hansen, chairman and CEO of CallWare. Our decision to develop to GroupWise 5 is in response to rapidly growing demand for unified messaging in the NetWare environment.

Industry analyst Robert Harbison endorses CallWare's NLM strategy. The NetWare NOS (network operating system ) platform continues to provide the best architecture for enterprise network designs, he said. It offers users much more advanced networking capabilities than other network operating systems. CallWare's GroupWise 5 interface will be available when GroupWise 5 in early fall. The integration module has a price range of $10-$40 per user.

GroupWise 5, Novell's premier Intranet application, is an expanded e-mail system that is the first in the industry to include full document management capabilities as part of a new Universal Mail Box. GroupWise 5 helps companies leverage their corporate network investment by providing an instant collaborative solution for the corporate Intranet. Building on its predecessor, GroupWise 4.1, GroupWise 5 seamlessly integrates calendaring/scheduling, task management, shared folders, conferencing, workflow and Internet access into the Universal Mail Box.

CallWare offers significant savings, improved communications and intelligent call management applications to businesses of all sizes. Users of voice mail can see their messages displayed graphically and, when combined with Caller ID, can see instantly who left each message. A CallWare user can play messages in any order he or she wishes, eliminating the linear method of the telephone keypad interface. CallWare voice mail solutions also use the Internet as a mechanism to provide global communication without long-distance charges.
