New Novell Consulting ToolKit Enhanced for Intranet, Internet Access

August 1996 Edition Features New Look and Feel, Access from Web Browser

OREM, Utah -- September 4, 1996 -- Embracing the technology of intranets and the Internet, Novell today introduced a new look and feel to the August 1996 edition of its Novell Consulting ToolKit CD ROM. Subscribers, who include Novell Enterprise Consulting Partners, can now navigate the extensive library of networking information and software using a Web browser on any operating system or computing platform.

"We changed the look of the CD ROM ToolKit to keep it consistent with the Online ToolKit we make publicly available on Novell's World Wide Web site," said Jim Breitinger, the Novell consultant in charge of the ToolKit. By using HTML and Web technology on the CD ROM, we've made the ToolKit fully cross-platform and accessible to anybody." The Online ToolKit is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.novell.com/toolkit.

Previously, the CD ROM version of the ToolKit was programmed using Folio VIEWS and looked markedly different from the Web version. "Now, users only have to learn a single interface to get the information they need," said Breitinger.

The ToolKit contains a variety of Novell and third-party software as well as product documentation, strategies, and productivity techniques -- all aimed at making maintenance, administration, and migration simpler. The CD ROM offers users the convenience of local access, while the online version provides more updated information than is possible via CD ROM.

The August 1996 ToolKit includes the following Novell software:

  • NetWare/IP 2.2
  • NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95
  • NetWare Client 32 for DOS/Windows
  • NetWare Client for NT 3.5x
  • NetWare Application Manager
  • OS, NLM, utility and protocol patches, and software updates
The ToolKit offers design and implementation strategies and troubleshooting techniques, proven in the field by Novell's experienced consultants, for Novell products including NetWare 4.1, ManageWise, GroupWise, and NetWare/IP. Also included are the latest presentations developed by Novell Consulting and presented at Novell Consulting Workshops around the world -- information that can be found nowhere else but the ToolKit.

While the ToolKit on CD contains links to external Web sites, it was specifically designed for local access. Third-party tools are included with the CD. The CD also contains Netscape Navigator 2.01 for Windows 95 and Windows 3.1x, for use with the CD only.

The CD is provided free of charge to Novell's Enterprise Consulting Partners. Other Novell Partners interested in the CD should contact Novell's FaxBack Service by calling 1-800-NETWARE and selecting options 1, 2, and 1. Then, simply request documents 1373 and 1374. You may also download a subscription form from Novell's World Wide Web site. The annual subscription rate for the CD is US$300 per year.
