Novell Announces Update of Support Connection CD

Improved Interface Established for CD-ROM Support Database; Benefits of Speed, Portability, Access to Networking Expertise Remain

OREM, Utah -- September 17, 1996 -- Novell, Inc., today introduced the Novell Support Connection CD, an updated, improved version of its technical support database on CD-ROM. The improved interface makes the CD consistent with other electronic support tools from Novell and increases the ease of use for customers. The Novell Support Connection CD (formerly the Network Support Encyclopedia Professional Volume or NSEPro) is one component of Novell's comprehensive technical support and provides fast, current, portable access to Novell's networking support expertise.

The Novell Support Connection CD contains:

  • downloadable files, patches and drivers to help resolve technical support issues;
  • technical information documents (TIDs) with the most current support information from Novell support engineers;
  • product documentation, providing on-line manuals with full-text searching capabilities and links to TIDs and other applicable information;
  • Novell Labs certification bulletins, providing details of products tested and certified by Novell Labs;
  • Novell Application Notes, a series of technical articles on Novell products; and
  • The GroupWare Professional's Guide, technical files and documents focused specifically on GroupWare issues.
The information is the same as that used by Novell technical support engineers to resolve support issues and offers the speed, portability and convenience of a CD.

"The Novell Support Connection CD provides an additional option for Novell customers to access our expertise on networking issues," said Rich Nortz, senior vice president, Novell Technical Services. "While the information on our support CD is much the same as that available on the Novell Support Connection Web site (http://support.novell.com) it offers the benefits of portability, easy access, and the ability to download files faster than through the Web site."

In addition to the new name and interface, the Novell Support Connection CD is priced lower than last year. A single-user subscription is available for $495 in the U.S. and $595 outside the U.S. Site licenses are $995 in the U.S. and $1095 outside the U.S. A $200 discount is offered on single-user subscriptions for CNEs. Prices include 12 monthly updates.

"The Novell Support Connection CD is an extremely useful tool in resolving technical issues with our network," said Joseph B. Kunk, Systems Development Services Division, Michigan Department of Treasury. "With the Novell Support Connection CD, we can quickly identify and resolve problems that otherwise might take extensive research."

For additional information or to order subscriptions of the Novell Support Connection CD, customers can visit a local Novell Authorized Reseller or call 800-377-4136 within the U.S. or (303) 297-2725 from outside the U.S.
