Interop Online Running On Novell's IntranetWare
SOFTBANK Expos Chooses Novell's Internet/intranet Services as
Platform for Interop Online
NETWORLD+INTEROP, Atlanta -- September 18, 1996
-- Novell, Inc. today announced that it has partnered with
SOFTBANK Expos' Online Division, developers of the NetWorld+Interop
Web site, to power Interop Online (http://www.interop.com) with
IntranetWare -- Novell's newly announced Internet/intranet
platform. IntranetWare continues the evolution of NetWare®, the
world's leading network operating system (NOS), into a full-service
intranet and Internet access platform solution for businesses of all sizes.
IntranetWare enables organizations to extend their existing network
investment while letting business networks embrace Internet technology
and the benefits of intranets.
With over 3,000 World Wide Web pages, Interop Online currently
receives over one million hits each month. As a year-round Web site that
delivers comprehensive information to the networking community, its
contents include Interop Buyer's Guide, an on-line magazine, shareware,
a job bank and Interopolis 3D -- a virtual networking community.
"Given that we expect the number of hits to peak this week during
NetWorld+Interop, the decision to move from UNIX to IntranetWare at this
critical time demonstrates our confidence in the product," said Michela
O'Connor Abrams, president of SOFTBANK Expos' Online Division.
Interop Online running on IntranetWare will be displayed all week during
NetWorld+Interop, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, by
SOFTBANK Expos' Online Division and 18 other Interop Online kiosks at
the show. Novell Connecting Points, which consist of 200 workstations
that allow attendees to access their e-mail and the Internet from the
show, will also display Interop Online. The Novell Connecting Points, a
mini network running on IntranetWare was built to allow 95,000 users to
send and receive what is expected to be more than 3 million electronic
messages.
