Active Voice Announces Integration with Novell GroupWise

(SEATTLE) - Active Voice Corporation (Nasdaq: ACVC), a world leader in PC-based voice processing systems and computer-telephone integration (CTI), today announced Message Integration for GroupWise, a new product that links its award-winning Reparteer communications server with the Novell GroupWise client/server e-mail system.

Message Integration for GroupWise offers true unified messaging, providing a single Universal Mail Box containing voice, fax or e-mail messages that userscan access via PC or telephone. It also provides worldwide PC or telephone access to other types of GroupWise messages such as schedules, calendars and tasks.

"This is an important breakthrough in CTI because it combines the functionality of two different messaging servers into a powerful new type of communications system," said Douglass S. Anderson, Active Voice Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "This enables people to access all types of messages anywhere in the world with whatever device they have handy - from a pay telephone to an Internet-connected laptop."

Message Integration for GroupWise, which links the Repartee server with the GroupWise post office, is based on Repartee TeLANophyr, the CTI industry's pioneer in both unified messaging and desktop call management. This connection enables GroupWise users to access voice and fax messages from Repartee using the GroupWise graphical interface. Faxes can be sent to any fax machine worldwide, and text messages can either be faxed to any destination or read over the telephone using the latest text-to-speech conversion technology. Users can also reply to e-mail messages with voice mail.

"Active Voice is a well-recognized pioneer in CTI solutions" said Lowell Camp, Director of Developer Relations for the Novell GroupWare Division. "They add value to the GroupWise solution by delivering integrated voice and fax messaging in a collaborative environment. By integrating their Repartee voice processing with Novell GroupWise, customers enjoy a world-class CTI solution that will increase productivity and simplify business communications."

Integration with the upcoming release of GroupWise 5.0 will be available before the end of the calendar year. Message Integration for GroupWise 4.1 is shipping now. Retail pricing for any number GroupWise 4.1 and 5.0 users is the same, ranging from $3,400 to $6,800, depending upon the number of text-to-speech sessions. Both products will be demonstrated in the Active Voice booth #7133 and Novell's YES! Pavilion at Networld+Interop in Atlanta, September 18-20.

GroupWise 5, the premier Intranet application, is an expanded e-mail system that is the first in the industry to include full document management capabilities as part of a new Universal Mail Box. GroupWise 5 helps companies leverage their corporate network investment by providing an instant collaborative solution for the corporate Intranet. Building on its predecessor, GroupWise 4.1, GroupWise 5 also seamlessly integrates calendaring/scheduling, task management, shared folders, conferencing, workflow and Internet access into the Universal Mail Box.
