Novell and Unisys GCS Sign First European CLA Reseller Deal
Customers Gain from "Best of Breed" Partnership
December 2, 1996 -- Novell and Unisys GCS, two of the largest names in
networking and distributed computer support services, have signed an agreement for Unisys to
resell corporate licensing agreements (CLAs) to medium and large customers in Europe, Middle
East and Africa (EMEA). In addition they have signed a premium technical service agreement
offering customers a single point of contact for all Novell pre and post sales service demands.
CLA allows distributed businesses to choose from a range of purchasing, site-licensing and
servicing options. Customers also benefit from preferential pricing, that recognises their
commitment to buying Novell networking and groupware products in volume.
Under the joint service agreement signed by Unisys GCS and Novell, 45 GCS' "CNEs" will
receive training on the latest software versions from Novell. They will provide support services
through Unisys GCS' Customer Support Centres.
Chris Griggs, Novell's European OEM Sales Director, said: "We are delighted to have Unisys, a
market leading service provider, as our first OEM CLA partner in Europe. We believe Unisys'
commitment to providing value added support and migration services across Europe will make it
easier for our customers to deploy IntranetWare technology and directory services."
Lalit Nathwani, migration and intranet programme manager for GCS, sees this a major
opportunity for both Novell and Unisys GCS. "It's going to help customers upgrade their
networks to intranets. We will offer a range of network and migration services under the CLA
which will help Novell's new and existing customers deploy NetWare and IntranetWare
throughout their organisations. Customers can implement Novell networking technology with
minimal overhead, yet remain in complete control."
Novell Corporate Licence Agreements (CLA) are available from Unisys as of 2nd December
1996.
