Novell Legal Department Donates Network Software to Brigham Young University Law School

Donation Will Make Law School Most Technologically Advanced in World

OREM, Utah -- January 17, 1997 -- Novell, Inc. announced that its Legal Department has donated computer software and support valued at over $175,000 to the Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School in Provo, Utah.

"With this donation, Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School will be the most technologically advanced law school worldwide in terms of student access to information," stated Constance Lundberg, Associate Dean and Law Librarian at BYU.

The donation included leading Novell networking products, including the IntranetWare and NetWare network services platforms, ManageWise 2.1 network management solution, and GroupWise E-mail and group collaboration system. Novell's Technical Support Services organization, led by Richard Nortz will supplement the donation by providing the law school with one year of premium technical support.

"It was an honor for Novell's Legal Group to contribute to the BYU Law School and Law Library," stated David Bradford, Novell Sr. Vice-President and General Counsel. "As a leader in the world of technology, Novell wanted to partner with a law school that is truly on the cutting edge when it comes to putting technology to work for its students and faculty. Through the use of Novell products such as GroupWise, ManageWise and IntranetWare, students and faculty will be able to access and manage information, communicate, and collaborate in ways not previously possible."

With the donation, the Law School will be able to provide students and faculty at 436 law student carrels with shared access to legal information and applications such as word processors and GroupWise E-mail. Eleven Novell NetWare and IntranetWare servers will deliver the network access and management services required to connect the hundreds of desktop workstations.
