Novell Wins Vote of Confidence from Reseller Community with Seven Major Product and
Service Awards
VARBusiness and Network VAR Give Novell Top Honors for GroupWise, IntranetWare
and ManageWise
NETWORLD+INTEROP, Atlanta, GA -- October 9, 1997 -- Building on its
long history of product excellence, Novell, Inc. today garnered seven additional product and
service
awards from leading industry publications VARBusiness and Network VAR.
In this year's Network VAR "Integrators' Choice Awards," Novell was singled out for
excellence in three categories. In a write-in vote by the publication's reseller readers, Novell's
IntranetWare was designated "Best Network Operating System," GroupWise won raves for "Best
GroupWare/Messaging," and ManageWise was singled out for "Best Network
Management." ManageWise distinguished itself further by winning integrators' votes for "Best
Overall Product."
In VARBusiness' 12th Annual Report Card on Value Added Reseller's (VARs) ratings of
their relationships with vendors, Novell garnered top honors in the Internet Server Software
category overall, and in the sub-categories of Products/Pricing, Support and Partnership, for its
IntranetWare Network Operating System. Novell was chosen overwhelmingly from among the 85
vendors rated not only for the quality and advanced functionality of IntranetWare, but for the
excellence of its IntranetWare channel management and VAR program administration, as well as
its strong pre-sales, post-sales and marketing support.
"The continuing confidence of resellers in Novell's major brands only serves to provide proof of
what we have been saying all along -- that Novell is the best choice for addressing the business
realities of networking, both today and in the future," said Dave Trotter, vice president of Channel
and OEM sales for Novell. "These awards are validation that the strong relationships Novell has
forged with its channel partners will continue to be a cornerstone of our leadership in the
networking software market."
"Our readers are out there in the trenches implementing these products every day," said Dave
Brambert, editor-in-chief of Network VAR Magazine. "They know how these product
perform under pressure. Obviously, many VARs have had positive experiences with GroupWise,
IntranetWare and ManageWise, because they beat the competition handily."
These recent wins are further proof points of Novell's leadership in the networking software
industry. So far this year, Novell has captured nine awards for its IntranetWare product line alone
from leading industry publications, including "Product of the Year" distinctions from
InfoWorld, LAN Magazine and NetWork Magazine, as well as
Network Computing's "Well-Connected Award." GroupWise has also been honored by
LAN Magazine's "Product of the Year" award and Network Computing's "Well-
Connected Award." In 1996, the company received 14 awards for IntranetWare and 11 for
GroupWise.
