Novell Announces Boot Camp to Train Channel Partners in New Internet Messaging, NT
Integration Products
Prepares Channel for Customer Demand for GroupWise 5.2 and NDS for NT
PROVO, UT -- October 13, 1997 -- Continuing its expanded commitment to
channel
partners and delivery of new intranet and Internet products, Novell, Inc. today announced a Boot
Camp
focusing on GroupWise 5.2, NDS for NT, and other new Novell solutions that are making
networks work
for customers. The two-day Boot Camp sessions for Novell channel partners will run between
October 27th
and November 11th, 1997 at Provo, Utah.
Novell expects up to 900 channel partners to attend the intensive, hands-on training sessions,
surpassing
the 700 partners who attended the company's first Boot Camp on the new BorderManager
product held in
August. Partners invited to attend include Certified Novell Engineers (CNEs) from Novell's
Platinum, Gold
and Corporate Resellers, Distribution Partners, OEMs and Enterprise Consulting Partners.
"Novell's concept and execution of the "Boot Camp" training model is another example of their
recognition
of the value of its channel partners," said Ken VanDerHorst, director of enterprise business
development
for MBSI, Chicago, IL, a Novell Platinum reseller. "Boot Camp is an effective method for
providing timely
and advanced training on GroupWise and other strategic products. This training enables Novell
channel
partners to deliver a high level of quality in the deployment of GroupWise for our customers and
helps to
assure the market that Novell delivers quality products on time."
"Internet, Java, and NT integration expertise is vital to meeting customers' business needs," said
Bill Wall,
Novell manager of channel marketing, development and programs. "The opportunity is here today
for our
channel partners to become leaders in these areas and transfer this competitive edge to their
customers. Our
Boot Camps are an important mechanism for making this happen."
Hands-On Training in Intranet and Internet Solutions
As Novell makes headlines with a wave of new intranet and Internet products, the company is
ramping up
programs to enable channel partners to fully capitalize on the new products and the competitive
advantages
they offer to both channel partners and their customers. The upcoming Boot Camp focuses
on
- GroupWise 5.2, the industry's most robust and scalable Internet messaging and groupware
system
with more than 8.5 million users. With its broad range of Internet standards and enhanced
collaboration
tools, GroupWise 5.2 allows companies to leverage the Internet for everyday business use and to
improve
the efficiency of work processes. In addition it expands users' ability to access different types of
information, extends advanced collaboration to a variety of client platforms right out of the box
and offers
improved administration and management, which allows users to realize substantial savings in
their cost of
ownership.
- NDS for NT is Novell's breakthrough solution for integrating NT Server platforms and
applications
into enterprise networks and intranets. NDS for NT enhances NT's native management
architecture, NT
Domains, by making them manageable objects within NDS. This greatly simplifies the process of
deploying
NT Server applications in network environments and dramatically reduces the network
administration and
management costs associated with cumbersome domains.
- BorderManager Fast cache. This component of Novell's BorderManager product family
delivers
Web-based content to users 10 to 200 times faster than traditional Web access methods.
- Java Strategy. Novell's strategy to make IntranetWare the industry's top platform for Java
development and deployment includes the new, comprehensive server-side SDK for Java
developers.
