Novell "Moab" Beta Now Available

Customers and Developers Can Run and Test Java and TCP/IP Applications on Novell's Premier Network Platform

What:
Novell, Inc. today announced the general availability of the beta version of its next-generation network platform code-named "Moab." This marks the first release in the open beta program for Moab with future updates becoming available in early 1998. Moab is a pure intranet and Internet platform solution that provides customers and developers with advanced application support and enhances network administrators' management and control.

Moab is optimized for fast and efficient execution of business-critical network applications. It builds on the established leadership of Novell's NetWare® and IntranetWare™ server platforms for the deployment of applications based on industry and Internet standards such as Java, CORBA/IIOP and Active X.

The first beta release of Moab includes a Java Virtual Machine, a Java Software Developer's Kit (SDK) and native TCP/IP support. This allows customers and developers to build, test and run their Java and Internet applications on Novell's scalable and reliable network operating system.
