Novell's NDS, BorderManager and intraNetWare Win Six Awards from Industry Publications

Network Computing, Networking Solutions and Network Magazine Give Novell Top Honors

Networld + Interop, Las Vegas -- May 6, 1998 -- Adding to its long list of honors, Novell, Inc. announced that intraNetWare®, BorderManager™ and NDS™ have received a total of six new product awards from top industry publications Networking Solutions, Network Magazine, and Network Computing. Novell was also inducted into the Network Magazine Hall of Fame for winning a total of 13 awards in ten consecutive years.

In Network Computing's fourth annual "Well-Connected Awards," Novell captured top honors in two categories. For the third year in a row, intraNetWare was selected in the Network Operating System category, topping Microsoft and Sun. NDS, the industry's most popular directory with more than 40 million users, captured the Well-Connected Award in the Directory Services category. Network Computing wrote, "We've seen many fine directory-services products in our labs this year, but only NDS delivers a fully integrated, hierarchical directory service with integrated security and effective management tools."

Network Magazine bestowed Product of the Year Awards to both Novell BorderManager in the Proxy Server category and NDS in the Directory Services category. "Novell has taken this product niche and gone many levels above what anyone else is doing," Network Magazine wrote about Novell BorderManager. Regarding NDS, the editors stated, "NDS is a mature, widely available, distributed directory services that has a global, all-encompassing view of the network." Network Magazine also inducted Novell into its Hall of Fame for winning a total of 13 awards in ten consecutive years.

Novell also received two Product of the Year awards from Networking Solutions, for BorderManager in the Security category and for intraNetWare/NetWare 4.11 in the Network Operating System category. "A bevy of third-party products support NetWare 4.11 and Novell's integration of Windows NT makes it a clear winner for managing the heterogeneous enterprise," commented Networking Solutions in announcing the award. BorderManager was praised for its "ability to secure and manage the performance of a network."
