NetWare 5 Boot Camp Training For Select Novell Channel Partners

Strong Customer Demand Met By Novell Authorized Education Centers

Edge 98, SAN FRANCISCO — June 30, 1998 — Networking software leader Novell, Inc. today announced its largest pre-release product training ever, the NetWare® 5 Boot Camp. In an effort to ready the channel for the launch of NetWare 5, the hands-on Boot Camp sessions will train more than 3,500 CNE®s (Certified Novell Engineers) from strategic Platinum, Gold, and Distribution channel partners, as well as Corporate Reseller Organizations, Original Equipment Manufacturers and Consulting partners at no cost. Previous Boot Camp training sessions were held at Novell's Utah facilities. With NetWare 5, the Boot Camps will be available through more than 100 Novell Authorized Education Centers (NAECs) around the world.

Novell has traditionally provided new product training through the Boot Camp program. The Boot Camp program provides Novell channel partners with hands-on technical and sales training before Novell products ship. This pre-release training ensures that Novell partners have access to product training and sales tools before end users and customers, thus enabling them to provide pre-to-post sales support. The NetWare 5 Boot Camps begin July 9.

"NetWare 5 Boot Camps represent the most significant investment Novell has ever made in partner training," commented Bill Wall, Novell manager of channel sales, development and programs. "We are aggressively engaging more than 3,500 of our key CNEs by conducting Boot Camps in dozens of cities. This pre-release training will ensure that our channel partners have the knowledge and experience to sell and support NetWare 5."

"Using our NAEC channel allows Novell to effectively train more partners on NetWare 5 before the product is released," said Lutz Ziob, Director of Worldwide Partner Sales Programs, Novell Education. "NetWare 5 Boot Camps offer a great opportunity for select CNEs to conveniently gain hands-on training with NetWare 5 in their local area by select NAECs."
