Novell Honors Outstanding Education Partners

Top Training and Certification Channel Partners Chosen From Four Regions Worldwide

Edge 98, SAN FRANCISCO — July 1, 1998 — Novell today recognized five outstanding education partners as the 1998 Audrey Award winners, including Doug Shankwiler of New Horizons Atlanta, Ann Beheler of Richland Community College in Dallas, Shide Qian of Shanghai University LEAP Network Education Center in China, Georg Roesch of LANWORKS AG in Germany, and Enilson Pestana of INBRAS in Brazil. The Audrey Award is the highest honor awarded to Novell training channel partners in recognition of outstanding partnership with Novell Education in the information technology (IT) training industry.

The Audrey Award was created four years ago to recognize exceptional contributions made by individuals from the Novell Authorized Education Center (NAEC) and Novell Education Academic Partner (NEAP) training channels who exemplify the spirit of partnership. Novell Education and its partners embrace change and ride the cutting edge of innovation in technology, business models and education offerings to provide the best training and education solutions for student customers. The Audrey Award is given to four NAEC partners from each of four areas around the world and to one NEAP.

"We are excited by the creativity and loyalty shown by partners in building the IT training industry," said Rich Nortz, senior vice president, Novell Customer Services. "The winners of the 1998 Audrey Awards are wonderful examples of how ingenuity and partnering with Novell can enhance business opportunities and better meet the needs of our customers."

Shankwiler, of New Horizons Atlanta, is the NAEC channel winner for the North America region. Since New Horizons Atlanta became an NAEC partner, it has shown steady and aggressive growth. In 1996, it grew its Novell revenue by 180 percent, and in 1997, continued to show a strong presence. Under Shankwiler's leadership, New Horizons Atlanta expanded its Novell operation to include two more sites and a New Horizons Mega Center with 46 classrooms.

Beheler, of Richland Community College in Dallas, is the NEAP channel winner for the North America region. Beheler is a Master Certified Novell Instructor (CNI) and the manager for one of the largest NEAP sites worldwide. Beheler has been instrumental in maintaining NetWare in general use on the Richland campus. She has increased student enrollment and staff awareness of the program by implementing a monthly certification awareness night. Beheler has helped shape and strengthen the NEAP program by mentoring and assisting several beginning NEAPs in the Dallas area.

Qian, of Shanghai University in China, is the winner for the ASIA/PAC region. Qian has led Shanghai University's business growth and increased Novell awareness not only at the NAEC, but in the community and government as well. His efforts have lead to Shanghai University receiving the best NAEC award in China for the past three years. Shanghai University also led all NAECs in China for test volume in 1996 and 1997.

Roesch, of LANWORKS AG in Duesseldorf, Germany, is the winner for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. One of the first to integrate both product and education messages in his marketing efforts, Roesch led a group of 17 NAECs to create a special marketing campaign. Roesch combined the well-tested Novell courseware with detailed information on local technology to offer students a customized curriculum. The campaign was very successful and generated a heightened awareness of Novell-authorized training in Germany.

Pestana, of INBRAS in Sao Paulo, Brazil, is the winner of the 1998 Audrey Award for the Latin America region. Since he opened INBRAS in 1993, Pestana has revolutionized the operation of his business by responding to market changes and building upon his NAEC's commitment to Novell Education. Under his leadership and management, INBRAS has become one of the largest NAECs in Latin America.
