Novell Gives Summit Attendees Opportunity to Leave Laptops Behind

Novell, sponsor of Utah Information Technology Association's IT Summit '98, sets new standard in demonstrating the power of the network

PROVO, Utah — September 21, 1998 — UITA's Summit '98 conference will be more accessible than ever before, thanks to Provo-based Novell, Inc. This year, more than 700 attendees of the seventh-annual event will have use of a full-service computer network complete with E-mail and Internet access. The network, Novell Connecting Points, will help them stay in touch with their offices and allow them to leave their laptops at work. For those not able to attend, Novell is broadcasting ("webcasting") the keynote speeches live via the Internet.

Novell Connecting Points

Novell Connecting Points is a full-service network, running on Novell's new platform, NetWare 5. Novell Connecting Points demonstrates the power, speed and manageability of Novell technology and GroupWise 5.5, a fully integrated, easy-to-use messaging system that offers a wide-range of communication and collaboration capabilities. Through Novell Connecting Points attendees will have the opportunity, while at the conference, to stay connected to each other and their offices, send and receive E-mail, schedule appointments and access the Internet.

Summit '98 Keynote Webcasts

Also for the first time, people around the world unable to attend UITA IT Summit '98, we will be able to view the keynote addresses via a live webcast provided by Novell. A webcast is a video with audio broadcast on the Internet. The five keynote speeches to be webcast are as follows:

  • Peter Currie, EVP, Netscape Communications Corp. - "The Web - A Strategic Business Tool"

  • Gary Kennedy, CEO, TenFold Corporation - "Riding The Next Wave of IT"

Viewing A Webcast

The Summit keynote addresses will be webcast live starting on Tuesday, September 29, at approximately 8 a.m. MST and continuing throughout the day. The final keynote will be Wednesday, September 30, at approximately 8 a.m. MST. Video of all keynotes will be archived and can be viewed anytime after the initial broadcast at http://www.novell.com/news/webcast/archive.html.
