Industry-Leading Provider of Networking and Directory Technology Will Address Media

LAS VEGAS -- Novell today announced a COMDEX press briefing on company news
related to its directory-enabled networking solutions and partnerships. This informal briefing will include
late-breaking news and will give media an opportunity to receive Novell product and partner updates. The
briefing complements Novell's presence at COMDEX as the leading vendor behind the COMDEX intranet,
Novell Connecting Points (NCP). NCP is the world's largest-ever production network for the world's
largest high-tech trade show.
WHAT:
Novell will cover news regarding Novell Directory Services® momentum, the new Nortel Networks-
Novell agreement and a technology demonstration involving NDS-enabled router and switch products from
multiple vendors. In addition, Novell will announce new solutions available to NetWare for Small Business
customers and provide an update on NetWare 5. Senior Vice President of Marketing John Slitz will discuss
developments related to Novell's technologies and address specific media questions. Breakfast will be
served.
For the second year at COMDEX, Novell will support over 250,000 attendees on the COMDEX intranet,
Novell Connecting Points (NCP). Attendees, vendors and media will use NCP for access to Web-based
information and unlimited e-mail communication. This expansive, scalable production network is based on
Novell technologies including NetWare 5 and Novell Directory Services, demonstrating the power and
performance of a Novell network in the most demanding, mission-critical conditions. Powered by Compaq
and Nortel servers, NCP features directory-enabled applications including BorderManager and
GroupWise, to ensure a secure and reliable environment for Internet-based communication. Media
attending the Novell briefing will enjoy exclusive access to a reserved NCP panel for quick access to the
office and story filing needs.
