Industry Leaders Novell And Intuit Join Together to Bring Simplified Network Accounting
Solution to Small Businesses
Bundling Agreement Coincides with the Customer Availability of Directory-Enabled
NetWare for Small Business 4.2
LAS VEGAS (COMDEX) November 16, 1998 Novell, Inc. today announced an
agreement with Intuit, Inc. to provide customers of NetWare® for Small Business 4.2 with an
integrated solution to better manage their accounting system across the network. Beginning immediately,
distributors TechData and Ingram Micro will be bundling Intuit's QuickBooks Pro 6.0, the industry-leading
small business accounting package, with Novell's easy-to-use small business server operating system.
NetWare for Small Business is the only networking solution that leverages Novell's market-leading
directory technology for small businesses. Announced in conjunction with the customer availability of
NetWare for Small Business 4.2, the Intuit agreement demonstrates Novell's and Intuit's commitment to
provide small businesses with a full-featured, yet easy-to-use solution.
Today's small businesses require networking solutions to offer the same high-performing capabilities as
those deployed by enterprise-sized companies. In addition, these solutions must be easy to deploy and cost-
efficient since they cannot always afford a full-time network manager. By running QuickBooks Pro 6.0 on
NetWare for Small Business, customers will be able to cut costs by efficiently managing their daily
operations and by increasing productivity of their customer-related processes.
"Both Intuit and Novell are committed to delivering easy-to-deploy mission critical solutions for small
businesses. By offering Intuit's QuickBooks Pro 6.0 with NetWare for Small Business 4.2, we are
delivering superior small business accounting and networking technologies to our mutual customers," said
John Slitz, senior vice president of marketing for Novell. "This is a big win for our customers and channel
partners who support small business networks."
"Now that QuickBooks Pro is network-ready and small businesses are deploying networks in record
numbers, working with Novell makes a lot of sense," said Jim Heeger, senior vice president of the small
business division at Intuit. "The agreement brings two dynamic companies, leaders in their respective fields,
together to deliver value to small business customers and resellers as never before."
