Novell Named Title Sponsor Of Utah's SENIOR PGA TOUR Stop

Company Signs Four-Year Agreement That Will Keep Nationally Televised Event in Utah and Increase Purse Annually Through 2002

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — March 1, 1999 — Novell, Inc., (NASDAQ: NOVL) announced today that it has reached an agreement to become the title sponsor of the SENIOR PGA TOUR event held annually in Park City, Utah. Novell's sponsorship of the tournament, which will be known as the Novell Utah Showdown, extends through the year 2002.

As part of the sponsorship agreement, the 1999 tournament, to be held July 26-Aug. 1 at Park Meadows Country Club in Park City, Utah, will have a purse of $1.2 million — an increase from $1 million in 1998. The purse will increase a minimum of $100,000 in 2000, 2001 and 2002. The three-day tournament will be broadcast live by ESPN.

The tournament's defending champion is Gil Morgan who captured the title by four shots over Isao Aoki and John Mahaffey. Other prominent names on the SENIOR PGA TOUR include: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Dave Stockton, Bruce Summerhays, Hale Irwin, Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriguez and Raymond Floyd.

"We are extremely pleased to have Novell joining the SENIOR PGA TOUR family as title sponsor of our Utah event," said PGA TOUR Commissioner Timothy W. Finchem. "Their addition will not only help grow the event, but add to the charitable contributions distributed in the area each year."
