Press Release

Certified Novell Instructor Expertise Recognized by Certified Technical Trainer Program

Novell CNIs Grandfathered into The Chauncey Group International's CTT Program

Novell, Inc., the world's leading provider of directory-enabled networking software and services, today [Aug. 24] announced that every current Certified Novell® InstructorSM (CNISM) certified before Jan. 1, 1997, will automatically become a Certified Technical Trainer (CTT) and receive a CTT certificate. CTT is a certification of The Chauncey Group International, a subsidiary of Educational Testing Service.

In addition, current Certified Novell Instructors who were certified between Jan. 1, 1997, and May 31, 1999, may become CTTs by taking only the written exam at a reduced price between July 15 and Oct. 15, 1999. These CNIs should contact The Chauncey Group at 1-800-258-4914 to obtain a discount voucher.

What:

Certified Novell Instructors will automatically become Certified Technical Trainers or reach CTT status with reduced requirements and cost.

  • Current CNIs certified before Jan 1, 1997, will automatically become CTT certified.
  • Current CNIs certified between Jan. 1, 1997, and May 31, 1999, need only pass the written exam at reduced cost ($100 versus $150 regularly) by Oct. 15, 1999, to attain CTT status.
  • All candidates who earn CTT status will need to fulfill requirements for recertification every five years.

Why:

The Chauncey Group developed the CTT program in 1996 to help define and establish professional standards throughout the technical training industry. An individual who became a CNI prior to the CTT program's introduction did not have the alternative of completing CTT. So The Chauncey Group agreed to recognize the demonstrated expertise of current CNIs and grandfather them into the CTT program.
