New Novell OEM Program Enables Small, Mid-Size System Builders to Provide Customers with Directory-enabled Solutions

Novell System Partners Program Offers Competitive Pricing, Direct Relationship

PROVO, Utah — Sept. 1, 1999 — Novell, Inc. today announced the availability of the Novell® Systems Partners Program (NSPP), a new OEM program for small- to mid-sized assemblers or manufactures of privately branded servers who bundle their products with Novell NetWare®. By offering competitive pricing and the advantages of a direct relationship, the program enables system partners to collaborate with Novell to capitalize on the growth of Novell's NetWare platform and the expanding market for directory-based networks and applications.

"By bundling NetWare with our Exodus Pylon Servers, we can greatly enhance our ability to provide a comprehensive solution set to our customers," said Tracy Evans, sales manager for Exodus Computers Incorporated. "Because of the competitive pricing through the NSPP, we can now align ourselves with the Networking O/S software to effectively compete in the OEM marketplace."

Participants in the NSPP can bundle their products with NetWare 5, NetWare 4.2 and the Novell Small Business Suite 5. NetWare decreases networking costs in businesses of all sizes by centralizing the management of network applications, desktops, users, data, printers, protocols and other network components. Relying on the most powerful directory in the industry, Novell Directory Services® (NDS®), NetWare provides efficient network management, Internet integration and security, and greater end-user productivity.

"The number of white box (unbranded) desktops and servers produced annually by reseller and system builder companies in North America has grown to almost eight million. With its continued growth, this audience of system builders is integral to expanding Novell's position as the trusted provider of directory-enabled commerce solutions," said David Trotter, vice president, worldwide OEM sales, Novell. "The NSPP provides competitive pricing and leading directory-enhanced products to enable smaller system builders to effectively compete in the competitive networking marketspace."

Novell will be exhibiting at the System Builders Summit Show, Sept. 7-10, in Boca Raton, Fla., booth #20, as well as conducting five sessions at the show, including a Latin American session, outlining the NSPP program. More information on the program can be found at http://www.novell.com/partner/nspp. The program is available worldwide with varying regional specifications and will expand in the future to include other Novell products.
