Novell Supplies VARs with Service Revenue Opportunities Novell to Distribute 'Service Opportunity Kit: Remote Network Management Vol. I' to Assist VARs in Increasing Service Revenues Who: Novell, Inc., the world's leading provider of directory-enabled networking software and services. Alvaka Networks is an award-winning provider of remote network management and monitoring services.
What: Novell announced today [Oct. 12, 1999] the development of the "Service Opportunity Kit: Remote Network Management Vol. I" to assist VARs in service revenue opportunities. According to research, in a typical sale, a VARs' services represent 15 percent of a total sale and 48 percent of the total gross margin. Novell will supply VARs with a "soup-to-nuts" complete method of blending Novell products and VARs' services into a customer solution. This solution leverages Novell® Directory Services® (NDS®) and NDS-enabled applications to provide a best-of-breed service for the customer. The Service Opportunity Kit was created by the Channel for the Channel. Novell focuses on selecting the best service practices from the Channel to include in this as well as future Service Opportunity Kits. Alvaka Networks was selected to create this Service Opportunity Kit because it increased its gross margins and profitability with ManageNet Services. The kit is divided into three sections: CEO, Sales Manager and Engineering Manager. Each section instructs on the process of how to implement Remote Network Management into a company. For example, in the CEO section, the CEO will find a Return on Investment spreadsheet, staffing requirements, marketing suggestions and more to implement the service revenue opportunity. Other Service Opportunity Kits will follow with topics such as security audits and building a consulting framework.
