Novell Strengthens GroupWise 5.5's Internet Power

Enhancement Pack Gives WebAccess a Facelift, Adds IP Support to GroupWise Client

Who:

Novell, Inc., the world's leading provider of directory-enabled software and the Internet directory leader. Novell solutions give businesses total control of their private networks and the Internet, simplifying the management of user access and identity.

What:

Novell today [Nov. 1, 1999] announced the availability of the Novell® GroupWise® 5.5 Enhancement Pack. This Enhancement Pack extends many of the capabilities of one of Novell's premier directory-enabled applications -- making GroupWise 5.5 even more manageable, scalable and easy to use for businesses that rely on the Internet to gather, access and communicate critical information. By drawing upon Novell Directory Services® (NDS®) for system administration, user authentication and the management of user identity, the Enhancement Pack offers GroupWise 5.5 users:

  • A faster, more productive experience using GroupWise WebAccess, allowing users to manipulate multiple messages, delete messages without opening them and access Internet directories, such as Bigfoot, through the LDAP Internet standard. WebAccess saves businesses time and money by giving them secure, reliable access to e-mail, calendar appointments and documents via any Web browser.

  • An enhanced GroupWise Windows client that offers customers expanded printing capabilities, HTML editing and the integration of open Internet standards. By supporting these Internet standards, users gain enhanced security and the ability to access multiple e-mail systems (such as GroupWise, Isocor N-Plex Global Server and Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service) using only the GroupWise client.

  • HTTP monitoring of the GroupWise 5.5 system, allowing administrators to access system information from anywhere using a Web browser.

  • Increased manageability of GroupWise 5.5 in a Windows NT environment by allowing GroupWise to run as a service, rather than an application.

  • Support of directory-enabled Novell products like NetWare® Cluster Services™ and Novell Single Sign-on -- providing customers increased reliability and ease of use.

How:

Customers can purchase the Novell GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack today through an authorized Novell reseller or by calling Novell's Customer Response Center at (888) 321-4CRC (4272). The price of the Enhancement Pack is $20 SRP per user.
