SUSE Linux today announced the expansion of its
Executive Board -- naming Amnon Harman as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Nuremberg 08/01/2003
As a member of the Executive Board, Harman will be responsible for the
refinement and optimization of internal company processes -- to better
position the company for growth and to meet the increasing requirements of
customers, partners, and shareholders.
Harman will be responsible for the development of workflows and
infrastructure within SUSE Linux -- including all company segments involved
in corporate strategy, product development and marketing, and product
delivery. Harman will also head the newly formed Project Management Group as
well as the Organisation and IT departments.
"In Amnon Harman, we have signed our prime candidate for this position," said
Richard Seibt, CEO of SUSE Linux. "He has the experience a COO needs, knows
the Linux market very well, and shares our enthusiasm for SuSE."
Harman, born 1965, studied aviation technology and industrial engineering in
Munich. He embarked on his career in 1991, when he joined the Operations
Management of Arther D. Little (ADL) International, Inc., mainly focussing on the pharmaceutical, chemical, and manufacturing industry. In
1997, he moved on to Deutsche Bank, Global Technology & Services (GTS)
Europe,
where he was appointed Chief Operating Officer. In this capacity, he was
responsible for the strategy development and implementation, budgeting, and
optimization of the technological environment of the European branch network
of Deutsche Bank with about 6,500 employees in 16 branches.
From 2000 on, Harman played an important role in the establishment of the
venture capital fund e-millennium 1 (eM1), which invests in companies of the
technology, media, and telecommunications sector with a volume of EUR 200
million. Since Autumn 2001, Harman has been coordinating the work and
development of the company group as investment manager of SUSE lead
investor e-millenium 1. e-millennium 1 is built on the capital and expertise
of companies such as Accenture, Beisheim Holding, Deutsche Bank, and SAP.
