Novell Modular Authentication Service (NMAS) Starter Pack extended to Windows NT/2000

PROVO, Ut — Nov. 3, 2000 — In light of its one Net strategy to simplify and secure the complexities of eBusiness, Novell, Inc., the leading provider of Net services software, today announced that Novell® Modular Authentication Service (NMAS) Starter Pack is now available on Windows NT/2000. Previously available exclusively for NetWare, extending support to Windows NT/2000 Server provides new opportunities for Windows NT/2000 users to benefit from the added security and flexibility of NMAS.

The NMAS framework extends network authentication by providing a flexible authentication framework for users to authenticate via a password, token, smart card, digital certificate, biometrics, and other authentication methods. With its multi-factor, graded authentication services, NMAS establishes the most secure NDS authentication environment possible by leveraging the combined strengths of industry-leading authentication developers and NDS. Additionally, NMAS provides a flexible framework for third party developers to control the authentication and authorization to the NDS eDirectory enabled applications. With the NMAS Starter Pack for Windows NT/2000, network administrators now have the flexibility to implement and centrally manage a single authentication method in the Windows NT/2000 or NetWare environment. The result is a flexible and secure network that is easily managed.

NMAS Enterprise Edition offers versatile multi-factor and graded authentication features. With NMAS Enterprise Edition, you can create multi-method login sequences for your users and control their authorization to resources based on the login methods they use. Currently, graded authentication is offered exclusively on NetWare volumes.

NMAS Starter Pack for Windows NT/2000 supports Windows NT/2000 Server and NetWare with NDS 8, Windows 95/98, and Windows NT/2000 with a Pentium/200 or higher. The NMAS Starter Pack for Windows NT/2000 is available today, free of charge, to NetWare® and Windows NT/2000 users through the Novell Software Downloads page on the Novell World Wide Web site at www.novell.com/download
