Novell Invests in Mobile Identity Management Provider

PROVO, Utah — Dec. 11, 2000 — Eyeing the future of wireless identity management, Novell Ventures has made an investment in Ayeca, developer of a platform that enables wireless operators to centrally manage millions of profiles and identities.

Often a cell phone or mobile device user has multiple identities for various services, including connectivity, content delivery and applications. Ayeca's Mobilidy platform will serve as a central repository for securely and effectively managing all of these identities. This forward-looking technology is built upon Novell's eDirectory; and just as eDirectory manages the profiles and identities of enterprise users and assets, Ayeca's Mobilidy will perform a similar function for the growing number of wireless users. Through its investment in Ayeca, Novell foresees a strategic opportunity to forward the eDirectory platform and to set a new standard of identity management for cellular operators.
