Novell Appoints New Vice President of Corporate Marketing

Provo, UT — Feb. 9, 2001 — Darin Richins, Novell's newly appointed vice president of Corporate Marketing, has assumed responsibility for press and analyst relations as part of a shift in Novell's marketing structure. Responsible for directing Novell's strategy, positioning and branding to the marketplace, Darin will continue to aggressively drive Novell's leadership in the Net services software arena. As he oversees content, consistency and collaboration across all internal and external marketing messages, Darin will also manage the Events, Web Marketing, Market Relations and Partner Services teams.

"The Marketing group has worked diligently over the past six months to elevate the Novell brand, and I am committed to accelerate our execution," he said. "Novell's next chapter unfolds over the next two months, as we launch our more comprehensive product, solution and services messaging."

Though portions of the marketing function—Field, Channel, CSI and Product Marketing—have been decentralized, Darin and his Corporate Marketing team will continue to help business units flesh out plans with program and product marketing.

"The messages are constant," he assured. "The marketing function remains a united front with one voice."
